Employers can be in a bind when they have employees who require ignition interlock devices (IIDs) to drive — in most Canadian jurisdictions the employees do not have a statutory duty to disclose this fact. This creates a risk that an insurer may deny coverage if an at-fault motor vehicle accident occurs. Neil MacLean, Partner, and Joseph D. Antifaev, Articled Student, have authored an article published in Canadian Underwriter magazine that discusses how an employer can improve the likelihood of coverage and even reduce premiums.
