1. Guild Yule is pleased to announce that Shauna Gersbach and Kristal Low have joined the partnership effective January 1, 2020

Shauna obtained her LLB from the University of Victoria and was a Judicial Law Clerk before joining Guild Yule as an articled student in 2011. Shauna regularly provides advice to schools, municipalities and religious institutions on a variety of matters including employment, human rights and claims arising from personal injury, product liability and property damage. Shauna’s practice also includes medical and dental malpractice defence as well as assisting health professionals in regulatory matters.

Kristal obtained her LLB from the University of Ottawa in 2007, graduating cum laude. Kristal was called to the BC Bar in 2008 after working as a Judicial Law Clerk for the BC Supreme Court and completing her articles at a prominent national firm. Kristal joined Guild Yule in 2010 and has developed a strong insurance defence practice and regularly acts for health authorities, school districts, religious institutions, municipalities, professionals and businesses in the areas of professional negligence, employment, personal injury, and human rights. Kristal has appeared before the Provincial Court of British Columbia, the Supreme Court of British Columbia, the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada.

2. Guild Yule welcomes Louis Zivot and Ruth Nieuwenhuis

Louis Zivot is a senior litigator with over 35 years at the BC Bar. His practice includes insurance defence health law, ADR, products liability, accidental death, life and disability claims, transportation, mining and employment, and labour law. Louis has argued cases at all levels of the BC Courts and at the Supreme Court of Canada and also before the BC Human Rights Tribunal and Labour Board. Louis joins Guild Yule as Associate Counsel.

Ruth was called to the BC Bar in 2017 and joins Guild Yule as an associate from a prominent national firm. Ruth’s litigation practice focuses on insurance defence, commercial and contractual disputes, medical malpractice, and employment law. Ruth has appeared before the Provincial Court of British Columbia and the British Columbia Supreme Court.
