Biography
Alex primarily practices in construction litigation and related claims involving insurance, home warranty claims, property damage, products liability, and contractual disputes.
He also maintains an active practice in defending regulated professionals in investigatory and disciplinary proceedings and has represented accountants, dentists, and notaries in that capacity. He has further experience in conducting workplace investigations and in advising on general commercial matters.
Alex joined Guild Yule after having practiced at a top-tier commercial litigation boutique firm and articling at a large regional firm. He has also practiced as in-house counsel for a large North American insurer and home warranty provider.
Alex has appeared before all levels of Court in British Columbia and before multiple professional regulatory bodies.

Co-counsel in a successful judicial review overturning a decision of a panel of the CPABC Disciplinary Committee. Leave to appeal this decision was denied by the Court of Appeal (2018 BCCA 299).
Bentley Aviation Ltd. v. Homelife Benchmark Realty Corp., 2017 BCSC 2067
Co-counsel for the plaintiff in a successful defence of an application seeking an order that the plaintiff’s action against its realtors be heard at the same time as its action against its conveyancing solicitors. The defendant’s appeal of this decision was dismissed (2018 BCSC 880).
Bentley Aviation Ltd. v. Homelife Benchmark Realty Corp., 2017 BCSC 1332
Co-counsel for the plaintiff in a successful defence of an application by the defendants to strike out the plaintiff’s claim against its former realtors in negligence and injurious falsehood.
