Shauna Gersbach is a civil litigator whose practice includes insurance, employment, human rights, health, municipal, regulatory, and administrative law. She regularly advises schools, municipalities, health authorities, religious institutions, and other organizations on a broad range of matters, including employment and human rights issues, as well as claims involving personal injury, product liability, and property damage.
Her practice also includes medical and dental malpractice defense, as well as assisting health professionals in regulatory matters.
Shauna has represented clients at all levels of court in British Columbia and before several administrative tribunals, including the Employment Standards Branch, the BC Human Rights Tribunal, the Office of Information and Privacy Commissioner, the Health Professions Review Board, Regulatory Colleges, and the Workers Compensation Board.
She was previously a member of a working group for the BC Human Rights Tribunal whose task was to provide recommendations to the Tribunal for representative complaints on behalf of children, youth and vulnerable adults. Shauna has also served as a member of the CBABC Professional Issues Committee.
Shauna completed her law degree at the University of Victoria, and was called to the bar in British Columbia after clerking for six judges of the Supreme Court of British Columbia. She has also been licensed to practice in the Yukon since 2015.
Prior to attending law school, she obtained a Bachelor of Science (with Honours) in Statistics. She also competed on the varsity cross-country and track and field teams throughout her undergraduate and law degrees, and continues to run competitively as a Masters runner.
Since 2020, she has been recognized each year by Benchmark Litigation for her work in litigation; most recently as a litigation star.
