Biography
Sonya received her Juris Doctor degree at the University of Calgary in 2024. Prior to law school Sonya earned her Bachelor of Arts from the University of British Columbia with a major in Sociology. After her degree at UBC, Sonya worked as a Claims Examiner for the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia where she was responsible for facilitating claim files through all stages of litigation.
During law school, Sonya interned at an established law firm in downtown Calgary. She worked on various philanthropic initiatives while at the firm, including the Bust Project and Mia’s Closet. In addition, Sonya volunteered with Pro Bono Students Canada and played on the intramural soccer team throughout her time at law school.
Outside of law, Sonya enjoys hiking, travelling, and trying new brunch spots.
